mailbox, mailbox, mailbox!

My co-worker sent this to me this morning. I had tears streaming from trying not to laugh too hard in cube land. If I had a decision in the matter, the hero of the day would have been a different font…

Ain’t no Bull

Wow, what a Saturday.

They ran, we skated and swung, then we all drank.  And all the while, people took pictures… and video… and more. I compared the rolling up of the bulls to the crowd as being chased by a mini-paparazzi. Come to think of it, it was probably a full blow one. We were celebrities in red, even if just for 5 minutes and 23 seconds.

I’m not sure how long the run actually took… it only lasted all of 12 blocks. I mean, it’s all about the Sangria! My favorite part was hearing the cascade of “Ow!”, “Oh!”, “Ahhh!” around me as the “bulls” passed. If you missed it this year, I’m sure I’ll be there next year.

So, I don’t think I made any of the AP photos all that clearly (if you look verrrry close in the background of the big photo of Lush, you can see me in the upper right hand corner), but I did make Offsides with Fletcher Mackel. I’ll take it!

tickled funny chord

Yep, it’s one of those Fridays.

Let me set the scene. I’m in a quad-cube pod and I’m the only one here, right? Even across the aisle from me, no one is here. So, I’m reading an ongoing email thread about last minute details for the NOLA Bull Run tomorrow morning, you know… where can I get horns, who else needs a bat, be on time, etc. when I come across this:

I don’t think I know what a whiffle bat is. I have a plastic bat, but when I hit my coworker w/ it she said it really hurts.. So should I get something else?

Ok, so I start laughing… snickering in my cube all by myself and someone comes back from lunch. Without getting into too much detail I try to explain why I’m laughing… and I can’t… because I start laughing harder. I finally manage to sputter something out. This is what’s acting out in my head:

Act one, Scene one

Worker one wanders into worker 2’s work space holds a yellow toy bat. She is examining it with curiosity.

Worker 1: Hey, can I hit you with this bat?
Worker 2: Well, yeah sure, why not? It shouldn’t hurt all that much, it’s just made of plastic!
Worker 1 swings the bat ( I haven’t decided if it’s to the head or leg or what)

THWACK.

Worker 2: Oww.. that hurt.
Worker 1:
Hmmm, something must not be right here.

Both workers sit a minute looking puzzled and then continue on with their day.

I just picture myself walking over to one of my co-workers and out of the blue asking if I can hit them with a bat. It’s funny. It was funny… :-/

Back to work. Weekend’s almost here.

This is heavy…

Why do I think this is so cool? I guess for the same reason that I actually enjoyed going to see “Back to the 80’s, A Totally Awesome Musical” and why The Molly Ringwalds are my all time favorite cover band and the fact that I almost chose “Flux Decapitator”, #1.21 as my skate persona . Man, that would have been so fetch.

long awaited

After packing and cleaning and moving and cleaning and painting and unpacking and…

You know it’s pretty bad when you FINALLY get to go see a movie that you’ve been dying to see when all the previews have already been released.

We managed to squeeze in a viewing of Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. I’ve heard mixed reviews, and I’m no professional movie critic or anything, but I must say bravo! I felt like a kid again watching a downright fun movie. So what if you can’t slide that far after skidding off a motor cycle. So what if punches have extra special “thwack” sounds. So what if the majority of the movie was a little campy. That’s what makes it so great. What a perfect way to let Indy retire.

In other news: I saw this article on yahoo. What a bunch of suckers!
(Yeah, like I know what I’m talking about.)

And another random note: I haven’t been to Clearview mall in quite some time other than to go collect my Road Home money. I usually hit BBB and jet. Well, apparently they have a glow in the dark indoor putt-putt course. It looks like I would get a headache just from walking in the place. Black lights and fluorescent colors everywhere.

Ugh. I’m getting old.

of all the things..

This weekend was pretty busy. Moving, holidays, more moving.

Of everything that happened, the one thing that stands out the most is the dog jumping out the car window… while it was moving… on the 4th. This was shortly after a conversation at my mom’s about how dogs don’t jump out the back of pick up trucks. Apparently my dog missed the memo about moving vehicle safety.

He’s ok. Boz is a tough cookie. He was limping for a while and sat on my lap for the rest of the day in the car. By yesterday afternoon he was putting pressure back on all fours. This morning he was good as new. He’s a smart dog, except he likes to jump out of moving vehicles and strangle himself on the leash when he sees another dog.

Oh, Bosceaux.
